I had a lot of reading and a huge pile of assignments to deal with. I decided to try out an essay writing service, though I always doubted those could be useful. Some friends of mine, however, told me they had used essay writing services before, and even wrote positive reviews.
I have chosen an essay with a simple topic, not likely to be spoiled even by unprofessional writers.
The topic was “Examples of Cognitive Biases.”
The Company Itself
A friend of mine recommended one of the essay writing services at the time – GradeMiners. He told me that this company was writing his papers for an entire year. I read reviews, but the opinions of this company were somewhat, controversial. Yet, I still decided to visit the website and try my luck.
At first glance, there was too much text on each page. I skimmed through the information.
The company offered:
- Custom essays
- Research papers
- Term paper writing
- Coursework help
- Book reports, reviews and other assorted academic materials
I guess it’s a standard list of services for any writing company.
One of the advantages of GradeMiners mentioned in reviews was that their pricing is clearly visible, while other so-called legit essay writing services often calculate a quotation for individual orders.
They start at $17.95 but are still subject to countless factors. At least there’s a first-time discount of 15%.
GradeMiners has a phone number on their front page, but I wasn’t sure about making the call. I looked for a live chat when I needed support. It was some trick, but it was said that support is available 24/7, but I couldn’t find any button or window.
It’s funny, but I had to call them in the end. It was one of the busiest support divisions. The line was constantly busy, but when I finally got through, they sorted things out quickly.
Or it seemed.
“The best essay writers,” as they call them in reviews, are said to have Master and Ph.D. degrees. There seemed little to no information given on the writers, it’s time to move on.
It’s suspicious that all the reviews are either neutral or positive as if people get paid for writing them. They praise pricing, the uniqueness of custom essays, and “amazing” writers.
I was rather afraid they would send me a plagiarized paper. Thankfully, the essay wasn’t copied, but I wouldn’t call it original, either.
It seemed like they fabricated some weird mixture from Wikipedia articles and a few odd examples from Google, with a sprinkle of some original opinions.
After preliminary reading, I decided to ask them for revisions. They obliged, but when I finally got my revised order, I had no time to read it again, I had to and hand it in. I got off scot-free, relatively.
But I was scolded for poor grammar, formatting, structure and flow.
If anything, their performance was far from optimal. The praise it got was unwarranted, I don’t think anyone wants a sub-par paper, you should probably avoid it.
